The 3 Different Types of Bamboo Flooring
Bamboo flooring is designed and manufactured in 3 configurations; flat pressed (horizontal), side pressed (vertical), and Woven Strand (ultra strength). The strips used in the side and flat pressed configurations are precisely milled to a 3/16” thickness to ensure an optimum balance of forces in the finished board.
The flat-pressed style (Horizontal) of
flooring presents as quite visually “open” with
the bamboo nodes appearing as randomly placed
delicate brush strokes.
The side pressed
material (Vertical) is denser in appearance, some would say
less delicate. The choice is a matter of style
with consumer interest in each type being about
equal.
The ultra-strength woven strand involves the pressing of bamboo fibers creating an extremely dense flooring material. To ensure dimensional stability, this material is milled with tongue and groove on the sides as well as the ends. It can be top-nailed, or glued-down.
Our finished products are 9/16 and 5/8 inches thick. Widths range from 3 to 4 inches for solid bamboo flooring and lengths range from 3 to 7 feet. Bamboo flooring can be dyed and stained on site if the natural or carbonized color options are not desired. Unfinished or pre-finished (usually with an ultraviolet light-cured finish) products are also available. Please Contact Us for more information on this.

Environmentally Friendly Quality Production
The advanced production lines used to create our Bamboo flooring are imported from Germany and Italy are ISO 9001:2000 certified. The manufacturing process from raw material selection to final product is well controlled to ensure consistency of color and quality from year to year. Our dedication to excellence ensures quality bamboo products with very competitive prices.
Bamboo Hardness
Compared with hardwood, bamboo flooring can be as soft as fir and harder than maple depending upon when it is harvested and what specie of bamboo is used. Carefully selected Moso bamboo undergoes stringent manufacturing process from size fixing, bacteria treatment, sanding, mortising, micro-beveling, precision milling, back painting, washed sanding, priming and multiple coating which include polyurethane and aluminum oxide coatings to the final product. Six to seven finish coats are applied to ensure durability and stability. Combined with Treffert varnishing, this provides a long lasting and scratch-resistant flooring surface to our consumers. Our bamboo flooring is similar to oak in dent resistance and much more dimensionally stable than most common wood flooring.
